Look After You

There are times in life when everything seems to be going in a direction that you never thought it would. Sometimes the direction is good, sometimes bad and yet other times the outcome has not yet been determined. However it doesn’t matter what the outcome is going to be, you still need to look after you.

For many years the whole concept of making sure you were taking care of you was such a selfish thought, because life was about everyone else. People would laugh at those that be so audacious as to think that looking after yourself was important.

However today with so many people on anti-depression medication, stress at all time highs and life out of control it is becoming more and more important to make sure you are doing things that bring peace to your soul, rest to your body and joy to your heart.

Today for instance, I started off with an hours worth of exercise followed by some work and then a nice walk up to my favourite cafe where I sit right now and am writing this article. Obviously my lifestyle is very different to most. Most of the time, I am able to do what I want and not have the deadlines placed on me by other people. It is one of the perks of the Network Marketing Industry. I am my own boss. I am only 44 years old and right now I am surrounded either by the retired or by mums hanging out with their kids.

In saying this though, I am heading to New Zealand next week for a weeks worth of non stop meetings followed up by coming back to Australia and then travelling all over the country side training and supporting others who want success and breakthrough. So life can go from tranquility to a full on race. It’s how we decide to handle each of these times in our life that determines how well we are looking after ourselves.

When you are able to have peace in your own life, you are able to help others have it in theirs. Sometimes it may seem impossible to find that peace, in these cases look at your diary and ask yourself “What do I need to do to make sure I have time for me today?”

You may not even feel like you deserve it. That is not correct, you NEED it, it is not about deserving it.

Some ideas to help you look after you:

Drink water: I know this may seem strange, but hydration plays a huge role in the way we feel. If you are drinking filtered water it flushes out toxins and gives you energy. It also helps to reduce your appetite so you don’t eat all those extra calories.

Eat healthy: Add more Fruit and Vegetables to your diet. (more veggies than fruit though). Last night I had a huge plate of steamed vegetables drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Included some strips of steak as well. Absolutely beautiful.

Pray & Read the bible: I love putting time aside at night to just rest and allow God to minister to me. I go through the day and do my best to allow Him to show me what I needed to learn from experiences of the day. I find that I sleep better when I do this.

Listen to things that fill your heart: I am always listening to CDs, Audios and Youtube Videos on our business and of late ministers. Allowing myself to experience that peace and vision that comes from people who have wisdom and can speak directly to me.

Exercise: Take time to go for a walk and then add some strength training at the end like Pushups, Squats, Chin Ups etc. Of course if you need to check with a professional before you exercise than you should do that. But a good walk each day fills your lungs with fresh air and strength exercises are good for every part of you. I also do Martial Arts. I love it and learn so much.

Spend time with people who care for you: There are people who fill you and then there are people who take from you. It is good to have both in your life because you can’t be a taker all the time. Make sure you have time put aside with people who make you smile and laugh.

You may be wondering why I did an article like this today, vs something on Network marketing, well I have found that if you are not taking care of yourself, you won’t have the energy to do what you need to do to get the momentum in your business.

More and more people fall into a place of Self Sabotage, they sabotage themselves, their relationships and their futures because they don’t value themselves. You have to place value on yourself because if you don’t no one else will and since successful leaders in network marketing understand that “posture” is everything, that will only come from having value on who you are and what you do.

You may not like this part.

This part you may not like. Even though I have been telling you to look after you and yourself, I want you to understand that for many people, they need to toughen up. Too many people blame their up bringing, their circumstances or even their personality for the way they are and how life is turning out for them. While you do this you take no responsibility and so you can not influence your future.

Personal Responsibility for how your life is right now allows you to see how things can change because YOU can change.

Next don’t become one of those people who believe that because they never get any “me” time that they can not break free. You have to make time for you, you have to be the one that changes and the one that does what they need to do so that things don’t go the direction you don’t want them to.

I guess what I am saying is don’t allow yourself to be a “sook”. You will need strength and focus. You would be very hard pressed to find a successful person who does not work hard and put a lot of time into themselves and into what they do. They don’t allow their circumstances or other people’s “stuff” to stop them from doing what they feel like they need to do.

If you find you are a person that is very anxious and full of fear, sometimes a simple diet change makes all the change. Getting off dairy and making sure you are taking a good pro and pre biotic.

Wisdom plays a role in all we do. Drugs are not the answer.
