How to create good habits
This is the number 1 thing you need to do to create good habits. “Create good habits” is what every leader will tell you to do. The better the habits you have and create the better your results will be. It’s so true, but how do you do it? It certainly won’t happen from following most of the stuff the “gurus” tell you to do, instead without learning this key, what everyone else tells you to do will actually create bad habits.
So today let’s focus on one thing to help you create good habits and it’s called “desire”, desire for what you want and then feeding that desire.
For me right now at this time in my life I have realised I need to change, I need to do things differently and I need to create good habits or better habits to get to the next level, I have some good habits already but I want to create more. So I got to thinking what makes me want to create good habits?
We actually need to “want” to do something because we never do what we need, we always do what we want and it isn’t until our needs become our wants that we do it. (think about that for a moment).
I used to think that everything needed a bunch of rules and guidelines but as of late, I am realising that success doesn’t come from those. It comes from the desire to have what it is you want. The more you want something, the more you will change, the faster you will change and the more you will be willing to create the habits that are needed to have the thing you want.
Don’t leave it too late to change.
Can I suggest one thing here, don’t leave it too late to change and realise what it is you want because opportunities do slip through our fingers, there will always be other opportunities that is true, but why would you want to miss the ones that are available right now?
Whatever it is you want for your future start to think about it now and take this one thing I am giving you and feed it, think about what having the thing you want will do for your life.
If you miss an opportunity, don’t dwell on the opportunity missed, instead dwell on the opportunities that will come up in your future because there definitely will be some there and those opportunities could actually be better than the ones you missed. Because I am a christian (one that makes mistakes) I do believe that the devil, our enemy, wants to keep you in a place of sadness and bondage over the mistakes you have made, the things you have missed and opportunities you had but never took. I am here to tell you that you are not to listen to him. Instead go to war for what you want.
How to create good habits?
Sure you can have the 7 step method to creating great habits or the 5 keys to an incredible life, but it will all still come down to what you want and how much you want it and do you want it enough to change?
You will actually WANT to change
One of the things I want more of in my life is a better relationship with my God Jesus Christ. Don’t worry, if you don’t believe I don’t mind, I am just using it as an example. I have realised that to have that better relationship won’t come down to me forcing a set of programs and steps onto myself, it will come down to me building my desire to have that relationship. Now I allow myself to think about Him all day and thank Him. I build my “want” to get to know Him more and it is working.
I also want to hit a huge goal in my business, I have always wondered what I could do in this industry if I truly unleashed my desire to build, my skills and I mean really unleashed. Now I think about it all day, I dream about it, I build upon it on the inside of me so that I can not handle it anymore and then that drives my activity to do the things I know I need to do.
The number one thing you need to do to create good habits is to increase your desire to have the thing you truly want. There will be many things you want in your life and this works in all of them. You don’t need that 5 steps or 7 secrets etc, you just need desire. It will help you to WANT to do the things you need to do.
Do whatever you need to build that desire, create a dream board, write your dreams down, meditate on it, whatever you need to do, do it.
